Requiring Restaurants to Post Calorie Amounts-How Stupid
USA Today has an article advocating for new government intervention: this time requiring restaurants to post the calorie/nutrition information about all of their foods. More regulation = increase the cost of going out to eat.
Bad idea.
Look, restaurants are free to post this information now. Some do.
Consumers are free to go to and spend their money at those restaurants, or they are free to choose not to.
Each should be free to act in their own rational self interest–
Besides–if a consumer is that interested in knowing what the calorie count is–they will simply refuse to go to a restaurant that doesn’t give them what they want. Capitalism takes over.
(Besides–who really thinks that those who make crappy eating choices are really going to read the nutritional label. After all, they could have made a free choice to go jogging instead.
Keep the government out of our lives.
